Ingredients:
- 1 cup chana dal (Bengal gram spilt and skinned)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp finely chopped green chilies
- 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
- 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp black salt
- 1 tbsp chaat masala
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- Juice of 1 lime
Method:
- Wash the dal under running water and soak the dal in 3-4 cups of water for 2-3 hours.
- Boil 4 cups of water in a pan and add the soaked dal, turmeric powder, and salt and boil for 10-12 minutes on medium to low heat or until the dal has cooked. Once the dal has boiled, drain the water and keep it aside.
- In a bowl, mix together the boiled dal, onions, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger, coriander leaves, black salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, chaat masala and lime juice. Taste to adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
- Serve the chana chat garnished with coriander leaves.
