Ingredients:
- 4-5 Amla (gooseberries)
- 1/2 tbsp black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chilies
- 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup cooked dal (lentils)
- 1-2 cups water
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- Fresh coriander (for garnish)
Method:
- Grind amla with black pepper, cumin, green chilies, turmeric and salt into a fine purée.
- Mix the purée with water and cooked dal until smooth.
- Heat ghee in a pot, add dry red chilies and curry leaves, and sauté for a few seconds.
- Pour the amla-dal mixture into the pot and stir well.
- Add fresh coriander and let the soup heat gently.
- Switch off the flame just before it starts boiling.
- Serve hot and enjoy
