No-bread Subway-style sandwich

Recipe

1.Dal Batter (for the base):

  • 1 cup moong dal and 1/2 cup rice (soaked overnight)
  • Salt to taste

In the morning, blend the soaked dal into a smooth batter and add salt. Set aside.

2.Paneer Stuffing:

  • 1 cup grated paneer
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 chopped capsicum
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Mix everything well to make the stuffing.

3.Chutneys & Add-ons:

  • Mint chutney (for one side)
  • Any sandwich sauce or
  • Tomato Chutney(homemade) for the other side
  • Fresh lettuce leaves

Tomato chutney recipe

  • 2 tomatoes
  • ⁠1 onion
  • ⁠3/4 garlic flakes
  • ⁠Peanuts handful
  • ⁠Lemon
  • ⁠Dry red chilli
  • ⁠Salt
  • ⁠Curry leaves
  • Rai (mustard seeds)

Sautéed every thing then grind it. Chutney is ready

 

Method:

  1. Heat a grill-lined tawa or pan.
  2. Pour a ladle of dal batter and spread it like a chilla.
  3. On one half of the batter, apply mint chutney.
  4. On the other half, apply your favourite sandwich sauce.
  5. Place lettuce leaves on it.
  6. Add the paneer stuffing over the lettuce.
  7. Once the batter is semi-cooked, fold it like a sandwich.
  8. Toast both sides until golden and crisp.
