Moringa lentil soup

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup soaked lentils (masoor dal, moong dal)
  • 2 cups chopped drumsticks
  • 2 tbsp dried moringa leaves
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, chopped
  • ¾ tbsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

For tempering:

  • ¾ tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped

 

Method (Concise):

  1. In a pressure cooker, add lentils, drumsticks, onion, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger, turmeric, salt, and water.
  2. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  3. Blend the mixture to a smooth consistency and strain if desired.
  4. For tempering, heat ghee, add cumin seeds and garlic, sauté lightly, and pour over the soup.
  5. Serve hot.
